About BY Roads
BY Roads classes are free and take 9-10 weeks to complete. All sessions are offered at a variety of locations. The class teaches skills needed to work for highway and road construction companies.

With a mix of classroom and onsite hands-on learning, students learn:

Graduates earn four industry certificates:

Construction industry employers visit classes and share information. The last day of class is always a job fair with construction industry employers who are hiring.

BY Roads is offered in partnership with the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT).

NOTE: BY Roads students must have valid driver’s licenses.

Craft Laborer
Often an entry-level position for new entrants to the industry, laborers get hands-on experience that touch a number of different crafts, offering potential career specializations.
Surveyors are among the first people at the site of a new project and the information they gather helps with plotting out blueprints, utility maps and computer models.
Project Manager
Project managers oversee a variety of different teams and craft professionals, making sure they are working in sync and finding solutions to any challenges that may arise.
